QLED (or Quantum Dot Display) panels use ultra-fine particles which react to light differently depending on the size of the particle. Larger particles are red, while smaller particles are blue, these particles change during use depending on what is shown on screen to create color. Since these particles can be adjusted at very small increments, this means color accuracy, gamut, and contrast is much higher than on traditional LCD panels that are restricted to RGB color layouts.
